Child Education is a bright, Bootstrap-based theme for nurseries, kindergartens and children\u2019s education websites. Out of the box it behaves like a standard blog. The designed homepage is a page template<\/em>, so it only appears once you create a page and assign it \u2014 this is the step most people miss.<\/p>\n

1. Set up the homepage<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Go to Pages \u2192 Add New<\/strong> and give the page a title (for example Home<\/em>). Leave the content empty \u2014 the template supplies the layout.<\/li>\n
  2. In the Page Attributes<\/strong> box, set Template<\/strong> to Full Width<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Publish the page.<\/li>\n
  4. Go to Settings \u2192 Reading<\/strong>, choose A static page<\/em>, and set Homepage<\/strong> to the page you just created.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The template file is page-full-width.php<\/code> if you ever need to find it.<\/p>\n

    2. Create a page for your posts<\/h2>\n

    Still under Settings \u2192 Reading<\/strong>, set Posts page<\/strong> to a second empty page (for example Blog<\/em>). Without this, your posts have nowhere to live once the homepage is static.<\/p>\n

    3. Fill in the homepage sections<\/h2>\n

    Everything on the homepage is driven from Appearance \u2192 Customize<\/strong>. See Customizer Options<\/em> for the full reference.<\/p>\n

    The homepage banner has 4 slider slots<\/strong>. Empty slots are skipped, so you can use as few as one.<\/p>\n

    4. Set your menu<\/h2>\n

    Go to Appearance \u2192 Menus<\/strong>, create a menu, and assign it to a location:<\/p>\n

    • Top Menu<\/strong> \u2014 the primary<\/code> location.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      5. Add widgets<\/h2>\n

      Under Appearance \u2192 Widgets<\/strong> you will find these areas:<\/p>\n

      • Sidebar<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Footer 1<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Footer 2<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Footer 3<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Footer 4<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        A note on demo content<\/h2>\n

        Child Education does not bundle a one-click demo importer. The homepage is assembled from Customizer settings and your own posts and images, so there is no demo database to import \u2014 fill in the sections and it takes shape as you go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
