This is the path that takes a fresh Legal install \u2014 empty, with placeholder content \u2014 to a working firm home page that reflects your<\/em> firm. Four steps. About ten minutes. No code.<\/p>\n

If you’ve installed the Pro plugin and run the one-click demo importer, this is what it does for you under the hood. If you’d rather configure things manually so you understand each piece, this is your guide.<\/p>\n

Step 1 \u2014 Create the Firm Home page<\/h2>\n

Legal ships with a custom page template called template-firm.php<\/strong>. This template renders the home page sections \u2014 hero, practice tiles, counsel cards, ledger, testimony, retainer card. Without a page using this template, you’ll see the default WordPress posts archive instead.<\/p>\n

  1. Go to Pages \u2192 Add New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Title the page anything you want \u2014 Firm Home<\/em>, Home<\/em>, your firm’s name. The title isn’t displayed publicly when this template is in use.<\/li>\n
  3. In the right-hand sidebar, find the Template<\/strong> selector under “Page Attributes” (Block Editor) or under “Page Attributes” in the right sidebar (Classic Editor).<\/li>\n
  4. Choose Firm Home<\/strong> from the dropdown.<\/li>\n
  5. You can leave the page body empty \u2014 the template renders its own content from Customizer values.<\/li>\n
  6. Click Publish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step 2 \u2014 Set the page as your front page<\/h2>\n

    By default, WordPress shows your latest blog posts on the home page. To show the Firm Home page instead:<\/p>\n

    1. Go to Settings \u2192 Reading<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Under Your homepage displays<\/strong>, choose A static page<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. For Homepage<\/strong>, select the page you just created.<\/li>\n
    4. For Posts page<\/strong>, you can either leave it blank or select another page (commonly called “Journal” or “Ledger”) to host your blog. The Legal theme styles single posts and archives nicely either way.<\/li>\n
    5. Click Save Changes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Visit your site’s home URL in a new tab. You should now see the Legal theme’s Firm Home layout with its placeholder content \u2014 six practice tiles, four counsel cards, a placeholder ledger, a testimony block, and a retainer card.<\/p>\n

      Step 3 \u2014 Configure the Customizer<\/h2>\n

      This is where the real personalization happens. Legal exposes ~110 settings through the WordPress Customizer; each section of the Firm Home page has its own panel.<\/p>\n
